I found an old blog post listing 36 books we'd just bought (special at work back in 2009.) Given all the second hand books, and books I bought from 15 years at a bookstore, it's always a relief to know I have read some of the books I've bought. ...About a third. In 6 years.
yes! The Gargoyle - Andrew Davidson: Wasn't for me.
no :-( Paradise - Toni Morrison
no :-( And Then We Came to the End - Joshua Ferris
yes! The Time Traveler's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger: Similar to Gargoyle, and not my thing.
yes! The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society - Mary Ann Shaffer: Mixed feelings. Loved the beginning--some of the letters she writes to her friend (or publisher or something) are really funny. But the rest of the book... not for me.
yes! Three Bags Full - Leonie Swann: Sheep solving a mystery. Loved it. Especially their description of the humans having sex.
no :-( Faceless Killers - Henning Mankell
yes! Morlante - Stéphane Dompierre: About a writer on a pirate ship. Vulgar, but I thought it was hilarious.
reading! The White Tiger - Aravind Adiga: Apparently I once had an Indian customer who bought three copies. Didn't remember that. Enjoying so far.
no :-( De Niro's Game - Rawi Hage
no :-( Six Suspects - Vikas Swarup
yes! Monkey Love - Brenda Scott Royce : It was cute.
yes! My Lucky Star - Joe Keenan: If you took PG Wodehouse, and he was gay, and you threw in sex--that would be this book. Great Wodehouseian similes.
yes! Salaam, Paris - Kavita Daswani: It was okay.
yes! Game of Thrones - Was among the fantasy books picked out for Fernando.
Then I guess I bought some romance novels, as research or whatever. Clearly a mistake, cause I haven't read them. Time to move on.
no :-( Stay the Night - Lynn Viehl: No memory of buying it, don't know why I did.
no :-( A Knight in Shining Armor - Jude Deveraux
no :-( Not Quite a Husband - Sherry Thomas
no :-( Date Me Baby, One More Time - Stephanie Rowe
yes! The Naked Baron - Sally MacKenzie: I think I read it.
no :-( Tempting Fate - Alissa Johnson
no :-( The Drunkards Walk: How Randomness Rules Our Lives - Mlodinow
tried Millionaire: The Philanderer, Gambler, and Duelist Who Invented Modern Finance - Gleeson
